Rainbow Stripe Scarf: Pattern inspired by Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who Scarf

Due to popular demand, we’ve been working on a free pattern for a very special scarf. It’s inspired by the one Jodie Whittaker is wearing in the latest Doctor Who press photos.

It isn’t be identical, because the original is machine-knit at very fine gauge, using a technique which is extremely difficult to achieve in handknitting but it will carry the spirit of Jodie’s scarf. If you’re on Ravelry, you can add it to your queue here.

Here’s a little sneak peek at the colours we’ve chosen, which are in King Cole Merino Blend DK…

The original looks more like fleece to me... but I'll be happy to knit your pattern!

    • Jayne Charlesworth.

No it's definitely knitted, I looked at it on my mobile phone and enlarged the picture and you can clearly see that it's knitted. I would actually turn this around though and do it as it should be K1, P1 not as this pattern is all knit.

Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks

What kind of stitch would the machine make? If someone were adventurous enough to attempt it by hand.

    • Kate Heppell

I think it would be something kind of rib, on very fine needles, with intarsia stripes - so you'd have to work in rib and change colours every few stitches.

Don't seem to be able to find the Opal shade available anywhere.... Think it's been discontinued!

    • Kate Heppell

I bought it on Wool Warehouse before Christmas but it does seem to be out of stock most places now. Glacier would be a decent substitute I think.

    can't access the pattern

    • Kate Heppell

Hi Judith, what problem are you having? The download seems to be working OK for us here.
