Stitched Together: Crafty Corner, Warwickshire

We caught up with Wendy of Crafty Corner in Atherstone, Warwickshire, to find out more about what goes into running a yarn business!

Crafty Corner

What’s your shop called? Is there a story behind the name?
Crafty Corner! Well, the shop is situated on a corner and when we first took over we had all kinds of crafts. The shop has been here for over 30 years. Now we specialise in yarn with fabric, and we also have dolls houses which I think sets us apart from other shops a little bit.

Where is your shop and what is the neighbourhood like?
Years ago Atherstone was a mining town and was also known for hat making. Now, it’s a lovely little town that’s quite busy with a canal running through.

Who works at your shop?
Myself (Wendy) with Anne and Emma

What makes your shop special?
We are very friendly staff, and we try to put up lovely displays and offer a large selection of yarns

What are your most popular yarns?
It has to be Stylecraft! We sell mostly Speicla DK and lots of baby yarns too.

Do you have a knitting group? When do they meet?
Yes, we have Knit & Natters on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday afternoons and on Wednesday evenings we have a Craft ‘N’ Chat with any kind of crafts!

What’s your favourite piece of knitting advice?
Start planning your next project before you finish your last one – particularly with Christmas coming up!
