The Big Woolly Weekend Round-up!

Over 10th-11th June The Big Woolly Weekend took place, and knitters came together all over the country to do their bit for chairty, and for a chance to win a woolly trip to France! Here are a few of the highlights from the weekend.

Working together, Bergere de France, Knit Now and Crochet Now have brought you The Big Woolly Weekend.

Taking place over World Wide Knit In Public Day, and Yarn Bombing Day, knitters and groups could grab free yarn from participating stores and 20cm squares were knitted in earnest to string up into bunting, and then to be washed and sewn into blankets to send on to Knit For Peace

Two winner's were chosen to a winner's trip to France at the end of this month, and we are delighted to announce this year's winners!

"The girls here at Owl Tree in Dalry had a great weekend with lots of crafting activity going on. The weather wasn't too kind to us, but it did dry up later in the afternoon. Over 500 squares were made and loads of other bits to decorate the town. Thank you to all who took part!"
Brenda Reilly

Chang Crafted

"We took part in The Big Woolly Weekend and considering we only opened our doors two days prior to the event we had a wonderful response! Our very first customer was a lovely lady called Phillipa who came in with some squares made up in response to our Facebook posts. In total we created just over 30 squares with several more promises from drop-in customers imminent."
Chang Crafted, Kent

Crochet Cottage

"We're a very new shop here, and it was a funny day, so I don't have any action shots, however I do have a picture of (not all) of the squares my lovely customers have made for me, hanging from washing lines like prayer flags. It's so awesome, I thought you would like to see it. We ran out of pegs (again!) so there are a couple more piles. I make it 316 so far, and people are still bringing them in."
Kate - Crochet Cottage, Evesham

Fudges

"We had a fab day in both shops and hundreds of squares donated! Here is a picture of the outside of the Dorchester shop all set up for the day, and we also had a group busy beavering away in the Cullompton shop."
Cara and Tori - Fudge's Wool & Haberdashery Dorchester, Dorset and Cullompton, Devon

"We had to take cover for the woolly weekend as it was raining the whole time, however, this is a picture I took of two of our knitters making up squares inside my shop, Rainbow Yarns in Rothbury, Northumberland."
